Friends played for the Pretoria league, invited me to watch some games, I saw it and immediately fell in love

Favourite Positions: Blocker, Pivot & Jammer
Why I need your support:
Roller Derby has changed my life! It has empowered me and carried me through the toughest periods and the biggest losses of my life. I now know that I can do incredibly hard things.
As a woman I feel like traditionally it is expected of me to fit into a specific mold, and to nod and smile and be “ordentlik”(polite). Roller Derby has helped me carve my own life path and this year I get to play in the Roller Derby World Cup, just one week after my 40th birthday!
You are never too old, and it’s never too late!
From Derby (yes that’s where I come from) to the Roller Derby World Cup!
I’ve dreamt of being on this team for years, and have worked incredibly hard towards this goal. I am humbled and thankful that I get to skate with so many incredible and talented humans, some of which are my closest friends.
Apart from individual goals and dreams – the bigger picture is also important: South African roller derby leagues are some of the most isolated leagues in the world. Training for & playing on an international level give us as skaters/coaches the opportunity to share what we are learning with our local leagues and this helps us develop and grow this incredible sport in South Africa. A sport that continuously change so many lives for the better!!!
Special thanks, and lots of love, to EVERYONE who has played a role in supporting me on this journey. If you are not able to donate anything, please share our posts on social media and send some gees!
