How did you get involved in Roller Derby?
I used to be a (music) tour photographer. I was shooting a show on tour at CBGB in NYC in 2005 and a couple of Gotham Derby players handed me a flyer. Once I was home back in Virginia, we started a league (River City Roller Derby).
Proudest moment as a Derby Athlete so far?
There are many (many) incredible moments, most recently one of my teams (Happy Valley Derby) made it to the 2024 North America West WFTDA playoffs. Honestly- after Covid happened, I did not think that I would be playing on that high level again. It was very cool, and such an honor to skate with and against so many talented players.
Another of the most satisfying moments was the 2013 Texas Rollergirls championship bout. My home team, the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers were 60 points behind the undefeated team with only 5 minutes left. We ended up winning by 5 points in an overtime jam.
Winning was awesome, but winning with my best friends was something that I will never forget. I have been so lucky to have been surrounded by so many radical people in derby.

Why I need your support:
Roller derby has saved my life for the last 20 years. This sport means everything to me, and to so many others as well. My mental, emotional, and physical health is better because of this sport and wonderful, inclusive community.
