How did you get involved in Roller Derby?
I heard about a badass sport that was as much about community as it was about ferocity.
I went to the intake in 2022, and after meeting everyone, and playing our first round of land derby, I was hooked.
Proudest moment as a Derby Athlete so far? Winning MVP of my league for the 2024 season.
Favourite Positions: Blocker & Jammer

Dodging Potholes and malfunctioning robots? Tough.
Explaining to a nation of rugby fans that there’s no ball in this full-contact sport? Tougher.
Funding our long trek to derby glory? Near Impossible
That’s where you come in! Your donation will help cover travel, accommodation, and all the essentials (like keeping my limbs intact) as I take South African roller derby to the World Cup in Austria. In return, I promise to dish out some proper Mzansi-style PKs—all legally, of course.
Roller derby has been a game-changer. It’s given me a community, camaraderie, and a whole new appreciation for getting body-checked at high speed. This sport has taught me that when I get knocked down five times, I’ll get up six. And team SA? We’re here to prove that South Africans don’t just take hits—we get back up, harder and stronger.
So, if you can spare a few rands, dollars, or gold Krugerrands (no pressure), every bit helps! Let’s show the world what Mzansi derby is made of.
Please note that 25% of your contribution goes towards Team South Africa Roller Derby costs to get the team to Austria (accommodation, transport, etc), as well as processing fees.
The rest of the donation goes directly to the person you are supporting, towards whatever they need to get them and their skates/brains to the World Cup.
