Support My Journey to the Roller Derby World Cup!
My roller skating journey began during the lockdown era when I bought my first pair of skates and started skating outdoors once the curfews lifted. Soon after, I joined the Cape Town Roller Girls for a “learn to skate” session, and that’s when my passion for this sport took off. I quickly found a lack of outdoor skate events and skaters to connect with, so I took matters into my own hands and founded Kobra Kwaai, a Cape Town-based roller skating community. We’ve been organizing monthly outdoor community skate days, clean skate parties, and creating safe indoor skate spaces for skaters to come together and share our love for the sport.
I am also proud to serve as the Chairperson for the Protea Sports Club, where we focus on supporting niche sports like roller skating. Although I have a day job, I’m thrilled to join Team South Africa as we prepare for the Roller Derby World Cup in Austria. My organizational and project management skills will be put to good use, helping our team prepare for this exciting international event.
I’m incredibly excited for this next chapter in my roller skate adventure, but I need your support to make it happen. Your donation will help me cover the costs of traveling to Austria, representing South Africa, and pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve on the roller derby track. Please note that 25% of your contribution goes towards Team South Africa Roller Derby costs to get the team to Austria (accommodation, transport, etc), as well as processing fees.
The rest of the donation goes directly to the person you are supporting, towards whatever they need to get them and their skates/brains to the World Cup.
